Congratulations to Professor Kurmis for another MASSIVE achievement – selected by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) as the top surgical educator/teacher across Australia and New Zealand !!! This highly prestigious award was presented on behalf of the RACS Academy of Surgical Educators as part of the annual Educator of Merit ceremonies.

A HUGE congratulations to Professor Kurmis for his recent award of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) Gordon Trinca Medal at the 2021 RACS ASC in Melbourne. One of the College’s nine distinguished career achievement awards, the Gordon Trinca Medal is awarded at the discretion of the RACS governing Council for outstanding contributions to the pillars of surgical trauma care, education and leadership.

OrthoDxTM Scientific Advisory Board appointment
A/Professor Kurmis has recently been formally added to the Medical (Scientific) Advisory Board for the innovative research and clinical development company, OrthoDx. OrthoDx is committed to the development of novel gene-based tests which can be used to accurately diagnose infections in many parts of the human body, including in joints (and around joint replacements). This work – currently undergoing clinical trials across the country – hopes to revolutionise the determination of infection bringing a level of accuracy and speed of final diagnosis unparalleled by any current conventional standard.
