COVID-19 UPDATE: THE IMPACT OF OPEN SA BORDERS …

SA Health has provided advice to hospitals and healthcare providers in the wake of the overnight SA border re-opening. As a result of the recommendations received, a series of changes will impact patients across the state in both public and private care settings. For patients of Kurmis Orthopaedics, the following changes will occur:

  1. as before, all visitors to our primary consulting location in Malvern (SA) will be required to log in prior to their appointment using the provided QR code or complete a full entry in the manual COVID-19 practice record.
  2. all visitors (i.e. patients and their supporters, industry reps. etc.) will be required to complete a written practice COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to their appointment and may also be asked to undertake point-of-care surface temperature testing.
  3. Patients or visitors who feel unwell, have respiratory symptoms, who have been directed by SA Health into isolation or quarantine,  or have had known close contact with active COVID-19 cases are asked to not attend in person. Similarly, individuals who have had a COVID-19 screening test – but have not yet received their result – are requested to not attend in person.
  4. until further advice from SA Health suggests otherwise, a maximum of one (1) nominated person may accompany the patient for a face-to-face appointment and will be asked to undertake the same screening processes as outlined above.
  5. the COVID-19 vaccination status of all visitors to the practice will be recorded as either: ‘full vaccinated‘, ‘one dose received‘ or ‘unvaccinated‘. Proof of vaccination status may be required and must be provided upon request.
  6. all visitors to the practice will be required to wear an approved face mask, covering the mouth and nose, and adhere to social distancing precautions as per the current SA Health recommendations.
  7. In keeping with the already-issued requirements of several of the private hospitals in SA, elective (i.e. non-emergency) surgery may be deferred or cancelled for individual patients if adequate provision of ‘fully vaccinated’ status cannot be confirmed. Please note that this is a directive already received from some of the individual private hospitals and the staff at Kurmis Orthopaedics are obliged to follow such requirements (i.e. we cannot book a patient for elective surgery in a hospital that has issued a ‘fully vaccinated patients only’ instruction). If you have concerns regarding such conditions, please direct your enquiry to the relevant private hospital administration team.

To arrange new or follow up appointments, or for any other questions relating to the care we can offer, please feel free to contact us directly via 0479 147 400 or ( admin@kurmisorthopaedics.com.au ).

Please continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
